Intensive Reading
Intensive reading is a reading method that requires full concentration to get the information you wan to get. Intensive reading is also done sequentially sentence by sentence. Intensive reading helps you deal with complex text. You can improve your reading comprehension, vocabulary and language skill.
How to do intensive reading ?
With certain circumstances, such as an atmosphere that is too noisy or crowded, sometimes it is difficult for us to be able to read intensively. Therefore, here are some ways for us to be able to read intensively :
- Taking Note
- Breakdown the reading process
- Apply what we’ve learnt
Write in the notes about the outline of the story or maybe there is something you want to ask about the text, or we have different ideas or opinions that we want to convey to the author. All that can be written in the note.
Divided the reading order into 3, namely pre-reading, reading and after reading. Pre-reading, namely the extent of our knowledge about the text when reading the tittle, reading, which is when we take notes, and after reading, namely after we read all the text, what can we learn from the text and we can also make a summary.
After what we learn from a text, we can write it in a note so that we don’t forget. And if one day we need the information we can read it again.
Intensive reading example :
- Magazine’s content like lifestyle or economic
- Several post on blogs with various topics discussed.
- Poetry and short story, etc
Conclusion
To get information and understand it correctly sometimes we are indeed required to read intensively. Therefore, lets make it habit or practice intensive reading to improve our reading skill
